It took me a little while to get through all the terms of use and get my next post about the top 10 article directories up, but it is now ready for viewing.

Another thing that I think authors should be aware of is to write titles for readers first - so that they click on them and read the article. This is something we have noticed LOTS of authors don't do.

Also posting most or all of your articles under one pen name - helps build more internal links back to the profile page -- which if you setup the profile page - there is room there for several links back to whatever you are promoting. The use of profile pages I think is one of the more commonly missed functions of article sites.

Thanks Harry - it did involve quite a bit of research, and more to come in my next post when I will summarise the key features of the terms of use for each of the top article directories.

Thanks Matt. I appreciate you stopping by and I definitely found the Articlesnatch.com blog handy when thinking things through and looking into the nofollow issue.

In my next post I will be considering the terms of use for each directory, and will be planning to mention the temporary status of the nofollow tags on Articlesnatch.

Thanks David, Wal and Bev. I thought the subject required a bit more research, and with a little encouragement from Gee I decided to take things to the next level. Firstly for my own benefit, but also as I wanted to make sure I wasn't leading others up the garden path.

Wal - in terms of where I got the ideas from, once I decided that a more detailed analysis was needed, I figured out what areas I could improve in then used some trusty Google searching to find the resources I needed. Took me a little while to work through the terms of use and double check things, but I think it is worth the effort.

Bev - I agree that there is a lot to like about Ezinearticles, and will be spending a bit of time in future going into more detail about it.

Tom - thanks for writing this and including our article directory. The nofollow was added as part of a filter we got hit with in 2009. We have found that since then indexing has been up, traffic has been up and best of all we have seen a decrease in the amount of spam being submitted.

We are on a continual patrol against spam and junk articles and in favor of solid well written articles.

Anyone who emails us for a review of their account after they have submitted a few articles will get a response quickly and most get the nofollow removed (it is retroactive).

Thanks again for double checking the nofollow bit.

Keep up the great blog.

WOW Tom,
You sure have put a lot of work into this. I like the way you have reflected on your previous post and updated your information along with bringing good amount of new research to back up what you have said. As a fellow affiliate marketer I have found ezine to be one of my favorite article directories which usually provides a consistent stream of targeted traffic. I'm looking forward to your next post with your list of top 10 article directories.

Tom, I thought your last post said it all and now I find there is even more. How do you come up with this fantastic information about ranking article directories? You have got me really excited. I can hardly wait to see your next post and find out the real top 10.
